A Year Long Celebration - Please see below our description of some of the wonderful events the IESNY has in store for not only the lighting community but for the City of New York.
IESNY Database Website:
The website will be separate from the IESNA website, containing information on lighting facts, trends, historical data and resources. This site will be available to all.

Night-seeing Map:
Building on Leni Schwendinger’s Spring 2004 course at the Parsons School of Design: Department of Architecture, Interior Design & Lighting, entitled Nighttime Environment From Personal To Municipal. This course will be an intensive study of the meanings and experience of the nighttime environment, with an emphasis on Manhattan will be undertaken. We will discover precedents in cultural expression of the night through films, fine art, and theatre. The class will produce images and text for a “Night-seeing Map” funded by the IES-NY Chapter with an end-use as a walking map for IES Centennial and tourist activities. The map will combine imaginary interventions and actual lighting projects in Manhattan.

Community Assist Project:
This project is take an existing community project and assist with the interior refurbishing and lighting renovation. Working with other not for profit organizations, we will improve not only the lighting, but also the general atmosphere.

Richard Kelly Exhibit/Grant/Award:
The Richard Kelly Committee is looking for volunteers to help reintroduce to the general public as well as the lighting community the history of Richard Kelly and his contribution to the lighting industry. They will update and present the Richard Kelly Exhibit, develop and restructure the Richard Kelly Grant and develop a Richard Kelly Award for working professional lighting designers.
